Boris Johnson has ordered a Cabinet Office investigation into Nusrat Ghani's Islamophobia claims and takes her allegations “very seriously”, said Education secretary Nadhim Zahawi.

“It’s important that we do this [investigation] properly which is why I think it’s the right decision, I’m pleased this has happened,” he added.

“We need to see the evidence and I hope she presents that evidence.”

Ms Ghani yesterday accused the Prime Minister of failing to take the matter “seriously” when she directly reported it to him shortly after she lost her job as a transport minister in a reshuffle in February 2020.
