COVID-19: Alberta's top doctor provides update as Omicron variant continues to spread | LIVE

CA, 01 Jan 2022
Alberta’s chief public health officer, Dr. Deena Hinshaw is expected to provide an update on Friday as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the province.

Thousands of students are heading back to school in Edmonton next week, but the rising spread of the Omicron variant has left many parents and teachers are wondering what classes will look like.

On Tuesday, Premier Jason Kenney said the province would like to maintain in-class learning but details are still being worked out and more information will be released later this week.

Alberta Health announced Thursday that about 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed over the last 24 hours out of about 13,000 tests. That’s a huge jump from the record-setting 2,775 new cases reported Wednesday.
