The prime minister has dismissed claims he personally intervened to help the evacuation of animals from a British charity in Afghanistan during the fall of Kabul.

Johnson was being asked about the release of two emails by the cross-party foreign affairs select committee, which suggested he had authorised their rescue. He said: 'I can tell you that the military always prioritised human beings and that was quite right’.
