Manitoba RCMP confirmed the identities Thursday of four people found dead at the Canada-U.S. border.

RCMP found the two adults and two children last week, just metres from the U.S. border. Following an autopsy, investigators confirm their cause of death was exposure.

The quartet have been identified as Jagdish Baldevbhai Patel, 39, Vaishaliben Jagdishkumar Patel, 37, Vihangi Jagdishkumar Patel, 11 and Dharmik Jagdishkumar Patel, 3.

All four are Indian nationals from the same family, RCMP said.

The family arrived in Toronto on Jan. 12, 2022 and made their way to Emerson, Manitoba, arriving there days later. Police say no abandoned vehicle was found near the border, indicating that someone “drove the family to the border and then left the scene.”
