Liz Truss on Russia-Ukraine tensions: ‘The most important thing is defending freedom and democracy’

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss on Sunday said the country will be bolstering its troop presence in Estonia and will widen legislation to impose economic sanctions on companies of interest to the Kremlin over fears that Russia is preparing to invade Ukraine.
Truss told Sky News that the UK was providing support across the Black Sea for its Baltic allies in Nato and suppling defensive weapons to Ukraine to ward off any attack by Moscow. "We need to absolutely stop this happening," Truss said.
She warned Russian President Vladimir Putin any incursion "could result in a quagmire".
