Winnipeg police are expected to provide an update Friday on the protest against COVID-19 vaccine mandates at the Manitoba legislature.

The demonstration, in support of the larger demonstration in Ottawa, kicked off at 9 a.m. and has disrupted traffic in the area.

Police said Friday they were working with the event's organizers to ensure the protest remains peaceful.

Staff at the legislative building are being advised to work from home and police are warning people to avoid driving downtown as a result of the demonstration.
