Det. Sgt. Renee Foley from Toronto Police's 53rd Division said a postmortem conducted on a body found in a dumpster at a construction site is a little girl estimated between the ages of four to seven years.
The area was just to the north of the Castle Frank Subway, near Castle Frank Road and Dale Avenue. "The child is described as Black, of African or mixed-African descent," Foley said during a news conference on Thursday.
Inspector Hank Idsinga said Toronto police are releasing pictures of items found with the body in an effort to help identify the girl.
Idsinga also said that tests are being conducted to determine when she died, which could have been earlier than last summer, according to the police.
