West worries about tightening French presidential race’s impact on Ukraine war
CA, 19 Apr 2022
France’s election is a close race between incumbent President Emmanuel Macron and far-right candidate Marine Le Pen.
The first time both politicians squared off during the vote in 2017, Macron ended up earning two-thirds of all the votes against Le Pen. But this time, the race is looking closer, with one projection putting Macron's margin at 54 to 46 ahead of this weekend’s election.
Global’s Eric Sorensen explains why NATO allies are worried about Le Pen winning and how the election results could have major implications for the war in Ukraine.
