The British government has struck a deal with Rwanda to send asylum seekers to the African country, a move that opposition politicians and refugee groups have condemned as unworkable and inhumane.

The prime minister claimed the scheme meant that 'economic migrants taking advantage of the asylum system will not get to stay in the UK'.
