Police and Texas Department of Public Safety officials are expected to speak Friday to provide an update on the investigation into the Robb Elementary School shooting in Ulvade that killed 19 children and two teachers.

Authorities are expected to face questions over the period of time between when police first responded to the shooting and when the gunman was killed.

Victor Escalon, state Department of Public Safety South Texas regional director, provided a detailed timeline Thursday on how the tragedy unfolded.

He also confirmed that the gunman's grandmother was alive and stable after previous reports that the gunman killed her before carrying out the school shooting.

He requested patience as the investigation continues, stressing they want to provide facts and "not deal with rumours."

Law enforcement is facing criticism over how they handled the shooting rampage amid reports that witnesses of the Uvalde school shooting had urged police to charge into the building sooner than they had.
