Shyam Chaurasia, a man from India’s Uttar Pradesh state, came up with a creative idea to help women feel safer: a smart self-defence kit that includes a purse, sandals and earrings.
The “anti-rape sandals” and “smart purse gun” can fire blank shots to scare a potential attacker and attract attention from people nearby. The earrings are equipped with a GPS tracking device. Women can also use the items to call the police and their personal contacts.
Chaurasia hopes his innovation would protect women in a society where they are often victims of violence and abuse.
