Clouds of smoke were seen billowing near Europe’s largest nuclear power plant on August 11, 2022. A video captured by a resident was shot near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear complex in southern Ukraine. Rocket strikes have been reported near the complex’s radioactive storage in the last few weeks. Russia has occupied the facility since March, while Ukrainian staff continue to operate it. Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of being responsible for the strikes, amid calls by the UN’s nuclear watchdog IAEA for a site inspection of the nuclear plant.
