CA, 08 Sep 2022
James Smith Cree Nation along with the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) and the RCMP will hold a news conference on Thursday in the aftermath of the Saskatchewan stabbings tragedy.
Speakers include Chief Wally Burns of James Smith Cree Nation, Chief Bobby Cameron of FSIN, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Marc Miller and Minister of Indigenous Services of Canada Patty Hajdu.
Saskatchewan RCMP confirmed at a news conference on Wednesday the capture and death of Myles Sanderson, a suspect in one of the worst mass killings in Canadian history, after an intense four-day search that held national and international attention.
Saskatchewan RCMP have requested an independent investigation into Sanderson’s arrest and death. The results of a forthcoming autopsy will not be released, citing the ongoing investigation.
