Yu Haiyang comes from the "most beautiful fishing village," Yandunjiao Village, in Weihai, Shandong Province. After noticing the tourism potential of his hometown, Yu quit his job in Singapore and returned to open a homestay. Unlike ordinary rural accommodations, he integrated rustic experiences into his business philosophy. With furniture made of driftwood and shrimp sauce fermented for three years, he hopes tourists will feel at home in his traditional fishing village.
