Boris Johnson: rail strikes 'unnecessary' and 'a terrible idea'

Speaking from Rwanda, Boris Johnson condemned the rail strikes after unions organised the biggest walkout in over three decades. Strikes have continued across Britain today with few trains travelling on the national network following a London underground strike on Tuesday. The prime minister stressed the benefits of “sensible reforms” for rail workers, insisting the government is investing in the country's railways.
