Russian state TV: Grieving parents buy new car with 'coffin money' after son was killed in Ukraine
Telegraph, 19 Jul 2022
Russian TV has broadcast an interview with a grieving mother and father who proudly bought a new Lada car with "coffin money" given to them after their son was killed in Ukraine.
The interview was broadcast on Russia-1 as part of a propaganda package on how the Kremlin helps families of dead soldiers, although it also contained remarkable references to the heavy toll of the war.
In the video, the parents of 33-year-old Senior Sergeant Alexei Malov sit in the drab sitting room of their house in a village near Saratov, a city of 800,000 people in central Russia.
