In Italy, a new law has recently been approved by the Italian Senate to try and put an end to the pervasive plastic pollution that is stifling the Mediterranean sea and that has devastating effects on the beaches and on human health. The law, aptly named “salva mare”, or ‘save the sea’ in English, hopes to tackle this issue that is particularly prevalent in the Mediterranean, the most polluted sea in the world. Our correspondent in Italy, Natalia Mendoza tells us more.
