Telegraph, 02 Aug 2022
Heavy Russian strikes hit the southern Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv overnight and early on Monday, the state emergency service said.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service released a video on Monday that shows firefighters and rescue crews battling fires in the aftermath of a Russian rocket striking a residential building in the Black Sea port city of Mykolaiv.

Mykolaiv Governor Vitaliy Kim confirmed on Sunday that the shelling killed the owner of one of the country's largest grain producing and exporting companies, Oleksiy Vadatursky, founder and owner of agriculture company Nibulon, and his wife was killed in their home.

According to a Ukrainian presidential adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, Vadatursky was specifically targeted because he was one of the largest farmers in the country, a key person in the region, and a major employer.

The State Emergency Service said the southern port city, 29 fires broke out in the territory of the Mykolayiv region from Sunday, 10 of which arose as a result of hostilities.
