Rare red #lightning, known as #sprites, was captured on camera by a Chinese photographer against the picturesque backdrop of Guilin's landscape in south #China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on July 27.
Academically known as a "transient luminous event," red lightning is an electrical discharge phenomenon in the middle and upper atmosphere. Fleeting and usually invisible from the ground, the #spectacular flashes are difficult to observe and even more challenging to photograph. Share the good luck and the incredible natural wonder.
